Version 1.0.25 works on two moments you only notice when they stutter: Sola opening on smaller phones, and the home screen appearing when auto-rotate is on.

A lighter startup

On a few entry-level phones, the Oppo A79 5G in particular, Android sometimes reported that Sola was taking too long to start. Android calls this an “ANR”: the app seems to stop responding.

At startup, Sola sent two weather requests at once and prepared all your icons in one go. Now it makes a single weather request, then prepares the icons you can see first: the dock and the first page. The rest follow once the screen is up.

A home screen that stays upright

With auto-rotate on, the home screen could briefly appear in landscape before switching to portrait. It now opens straight in portrait. On tablets, nothing changes: rotation stays free.

Still free and complete

Sola is free and complete, with no ads and no tracking. Sola Pro is an optional one-time purchase that supports development.
